OUR ROOTS RUN DEEP
Clint DeGeest, founder of DeGeest Manufacturing, returned to South Dakota after serving as a welder in the United States Navy to apply his welding skills in the manufacturing industry.
In 1976, Clint and his wife Glenyce, started a weld shop with one other employee. In 1978, their son, Scott DeGeest, joined the business and together they grew the company alongside its customers; adding equipment, space and employees.
Clint passed away in 1997. His dream of a “company that would share profits with its talented, hard-working employees” lives on with his sons and grandsons.
Three facility moves, six additions, and one name change later, DeGeest Steel Works is a third-generation family-owned company with Scott DeGeest, Derek DeGeest, Matt DeGeest, and Alicia DeGeest all active in the company with the same core belief of investing in our employees and taking care of our customers.

We are rooted in a very
simple idea: Do great work
and treat people well.
Our humble beginnings laid a foundation for excellence.
Our roots are in welding and fabrication. Bet even then, it was our hunger to do it better than anyone that set us apart. Thanks to the vision of Clint, Glenyce, and the dedicated team who helped us get our start, we’re where we are today - leaders in manufacturing.
FAMILY-OWNED
A move to Tea helped us thrive.
With success comes growth. And with growth comes the opportunity for a new, larger home. As a thriving manual manufacturing operation, we needed room to grow to remain a leader. Our move from Harrisburg to Tea set us on a path to greatness.
A STRONGER STANDARD
DAY AFTER DAY.
Moving manufacturing forward thanks to our focused past.
Today, we’re a leader in automation, finishing, and of course, fabrication. With a team empowered to solve tough problems, we’re excited to write our next chapter as DeGeest Corporation.
